About RS-Geo

In 2025, the survey division of Geo-4D Ltd was split out as RS-Geo Ltd to allow each business to focus on what they do best.

At RS-Geo, we utilise a variety of drone-based and traditional survey techniques to acquire comprehensive site characterisation datasets, with a focus on surveying complex environments, including intertidal and nearshore settings and high-risk onshore sites.

Where appropriate, we use our in-house fleet of drones, payloads and qualified drone operators to acquire as much data as possible, with traditional survey techniques used to supplement the drone-based survey data, as required.

Brian Critchley

Director/Principal Geoscientist

Brian is the managing director of RS-Geo and it's sister company Geo-4D, with over 30 years of industry experience, specialising in offshore and onshore geophysical data collection and processing, and as a consultant involved in the planning, management and implementation of onshore and offshore geophysical and geotechnical surveys. Prior to setting up RS-Geo, Brian’s geoscience-focussed career included gold exploration in Australia, treasure hunting in the Indian Ocean, offshore geophysical data collection around the world, desk-based geoscience consultancy and client repping.

Dave Harrison

Principal Geoscientist

Dave is a skilled geoscientist, with over 14 years of experience in offshore and onshore geotechnics, geophysics, geohazards, sedimentology, geochronology, surveying, GIS and remote sensing. At RS-Geo, Dave largely focuses on commercial aspects and technical oversight of projects, providing guidance and training on the acquisition, processing and interpretation of datasets.

Chris Brennan

Senior Geoscientist

Chris is a senior geoscientist at RS-Geo, conducting survey operations, data processing and data interpretation. Prior to working at RS-Geo, Chris studied a BSc and MSc in Geoscience at Keele University before completing a PhD at Royal Holloway focusing on the impact of early salt tectonic processes on post-Permian basin evolution and Mesozoic petroleum systems in the southern North Sea.

Will Wenban

Geoscientist

Will is a geoscientist at RS-Geo and is experienced in acquiring, processing and interpreting a variety of geospatial and technical data. Prior to joining RS-Geo, Will completed a BSc in Physical Geography from the University of Southampton and an MRes and PhD in Glaciology from the University of Sheffield, which focused on the spatio-temporal dynamics of glacial erosion over the last glacial period. Will is still actively involved in glaciology research outside of his time as a geoscientist at RS-Geo, utilising techniques such as ground-penetrating radar, UAV, GPS and active seismic surveying on glaciers and ice caps.

Nick Edgington

Geoscientist

Nick is a geoscientist at RS-Geo, conducting onshore and offshore geophysical surveys and processing data. Nick applies his mathematical background to develop effective workflows for acquisition, processing and interpretation of survey datasets including magnetometry, LiDAR and photogrammetry. Prior to working at RS-Geo, Nick graduated from Cardiff University with a BSc in Mathematics.

Deaglan Bayliss

Chief UAV Operator

Deaglan leads RS-Geo's drone operations, including tendering, risk assessments, development of workflows, maintaining our fleet of drones and leading survey operations. Deaglan is a drone enthusiast, and when not flying drones for work, he's often flying drones for fun, including racing FPV drones. Prior to joining RS-Geo,  Deaglan worked in TV production as a drone operator, filming anything from car boot sales to land speed records for shows on Channel 4, ITV, and Discovery. His academic background is in biology with a degree from Plymouth University, for his final year project he created a computer model to analyse population dynamics.

Liam Cracknell

AI Developer

Liam initially joined RS-Geo as part of his work experience for his T Level in Digital Development at New College. Liam creates computer vision models through machine learning for automatic object detection.

Freddie Allen Stevens

AI Developer

Freddie, a Newcastle University graduate with a BSc in Accounting and Finance, designs AI models for RS-Geo, focussing on training and refinement of our drone imagery feature identification tool.
